$5,000 Prize, Apply For Michael Elliott Award For Excellence In African Storytelling 2019


The International Center for Journalists in collaboration with One and the Elliott family has invited entries for the Michael Elliott Award For Excellence In African Storytelling 2019. Applicants need to submit a story on any important issue. The entry can be a feature, an in-depth, explanatory or an investigate story. The story should be submitted in English language. If you submit your entry in other language must include English translation. An international jury will decide the the winner’s name.

Location : Johannesburg, South Africa. Deadline : December 2, 2018.

Eligibility

  • The contest is open to all English speaking journalists working in Africa for print, broadcast or online news media.
  • Work experience shouldn’t more than 10 years.

Prizes

  • The winner will get $5,000 prize to pursue a reporting project.
  • The winner will spend time in USA news room to learn new skills. This tour will be provided by ICFJ.
  • 2 weeks internship chance at The Economist, London.
